HOW CAN I MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE ? 1. The  Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) I am currently working towards : • Zero poverty - End poverty in all its forms everywhere. • Zero hunger - End hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. • Quality education -  ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning. • Gender equality- achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. • Reduced inequalities- reduce inequality within and among countries. • Peace and justice- promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies. 2. The specific targets I hope to contribute towards : • By 2030, eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day. • By 2030, reduce at least by half the proportion of men, women and children of all ages living in poverty in all its dimensions according to national definitions. • By 2030,

Mapping My Personal Geographies

In this section, I will specifically mention my significant fears, changes and uncertainties that I think has erupted in my community, country, and the globe by extension. I will also include maps of the challenges and changes of the world I always dreamt of! My Organization: Golden Opportunities For All (GOFA). Chairty and Volunteer Foundation ! Geographies of Challenge ( by groups ) : Economic : • Dominica has a low economic growth rate , however, although there is a need for the use of social responsibility monies for the poor, the money is most times pumped into other areas of the economy, especially tourism and agriculture. Political : • the political system is designed in a such a way that the poor tend to remain poor . However , they are still assisted through low cost funding, education and the provision of minimum wage employment. Leadership : • getting / rallying people to volunteer can be challenging because as a leader, you have to constantly motivate

Leadership is Greatness!

Leadership is more than just standing in front of a group and telling them what to say, what to do, where to go or how to live their lives. Leadership is about freedom. Leadership is about betterment. Leadership is about acceptance. It's about ensuring that others are made better in your presence and that the impact is forever felt in your absence !" - Lakeyia J .  I chose to define leadership this way because I always have and will always believe that when you lead, those whom you come in contact should never doubt your ability to make a difference. People should know that your main drive is as a result of passion and excellence and that you are destined to not just improve yourself but everyone around you. As one of my favorite inspirational writers, Robin Sharma, mentioned and I

About Me- My journey!

I started my journey all the way back in 2013, when I got the feeling that other children felt if they had no new clothes to wear or came to school with the same pair of shoes for two years in a row. I felt the feeling of not having the adequate resources in order to efficiently function at school. I had the feeling of utter incompletion, where children would wake up in the morning and go to bed with nothing to eat. I got the feeling of a Humanitarian. I am 19-year-young Lakeyia Joseph from the tiny but mighty island of Dominica ! Raised by my grandparents while my mother was away seeking job opportunities and my father was nowhere to be found; and even when he was found, it made no difference. I struggled to get everything done. Everything!  But, in 2013 while still in high school , I decided that even if I was faced with these challenges, some kids had it worse than me and so I had to do something to help them  or at least make their burden a bit lighter b
